Sharing what we see is meaning enough

power lines 1-9-2003 — acrylic on canvas — 12x12 each by Dan McCarthy

Each place you go, don’t look for the thing that is different. Look for the thing that is the same. That is your starting point, the anchor.

I can share the experience. We aren’t alone. But we can’t find each other inside all the noise. We have to look out into the quiet, strip the lines of the world to the essentials, prostrate our souls to the common, the everyday, the mundane.

This artist lets us see it anew. But we’ll miss it if we try to give it too much meaning. That we share what we see is meaning enough.
