Irving Penn reminds us that there’s a common thread in the experience of beauty, whether it’s organic or inert, whether it’s tamed or wild, whether it’s familiar or strange.  Penn’s vision presented the essence of beauty as something stark and separate, almost foreboding but insistently attracting.
